Our Story
Born from a deep love of movement, fire and the natural world — FlowlaPo is more than a performance company. It's a living expression of art in its most elemental form.
FlowlaPo was born from a single spark — a late-night fire circle where movement, music and community collided into something magical. What started as a personal practice grew into a calling.
Our founder, Karina, discovered flow arts through travel — from beach jam sessions in Southeast Asia to underground circus communities in Europe. Each flame she danced with told a story.
FlowlaPo means "flow" and "lapo" — a word from the Tagalog language meaning to soar, to leap, to be free. It perfectly captures what we strive for in every performance.
We believe flow arts are a bridge between the primal and the poetic. When fire meets movement, something ancient awakens — both in the performer and the audience.
Frustrated by the lack of quality, travel-friendly flow props, Karina began crafting her own modular sock poi — durable, lightweight, and endlessly customisable.
The FlowlaPo Modular Poi Builder was born from this necessity. Today, our props are used by flow artists across the globe, from beginners on hostel rooftops to professional stage performers.
What We Stand For
We draw inspiration from the elements — fire, wind, earth — and strive to create performances that feel ancient and alive.
Every performance is an act of devotion. We pour genuine passion into every flame, every spin, every moment.
We believe in the power of community and collaboration. Flow arts are most alive when shared with others.
